TCA Aircraft Testing Department. Jet/ turboprop/ large prop aircraft test report: Date of Report: 12 june 1998 Tested by: Marco Pacagnella & Philip M. Wafer (TCA #2459/#2302) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SECTION A: (Original FSFS aircraft details.) a) Aircraft name: Antonov An-22 Lebed b) Aircraft registration: UR-64460 c) Aircraft Filename: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SECTION B: (FS98 only aircraft file details.) a) Aircraft name: Antonov An-22 (Ver 1) b) File name: An22tca1.ZIP ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SECTION C: (Criteria Tested) 1) Endurance (range)NM: 1100 nm (@FL200) 2) Take-off distance(metres): 1100m Landing distance(metres): 450m 3) Rotation speed (Vr)(KIAS): a) Educated guess: 140 KIAS b) Calculated: 135 KIAS 4) Climb: Best climb speed (KIAS/fpm):1500 fpm until 200KIAS, then 2500 fpm/250KIAS until FL100 then 1000fpm/290KIAS until cruise FL 5) Overspeed clacker sounds at(at cruise altitude)Mach number or KIAS: Mach .70 6) Behavior under AP(OK/Not OK). a) Speed AP. Slow b) Altitude AP. OK c) Heading AP. OK d) NAV1 AP. OK e) Back course AP. OK f) Approach AP. OK g) Autoland N/A 7) Speed @ 80% N1, FL310 (Mach number or KIAS). Mach 0.58 8) % N1 at recommended economic cruise speed: 83% 9) Stall speed (KIAS). a) 100% fuel:122/105 b) 30% fuel:114/95 10) Approach speed at 30% fuel(KIAS): 135 KIAS 11) Turns AP ON - (OK/Not OK): a) Level turns. OK b) Climbing turns. OK c) Descending turns. OK 12) Turns AP OFF - (OK/Not OK): a) Level turns. OK b) Climbing turns. OK c) Descending turns. OK 13) Landing speed(KIAS): a) 30% fuel: 130 KIAS b) 15% fuel: 125 KIAS 14) Take-off with some engines out of service: OK I've shot down outer engine at 100 KIAS during t/o run: rudder needed to keep the antonov straight in runway until lift off. Then also aileron needed. Great climber, so I wanted to cut fuel also on the inner engine on the same wing, no problem, easy also to land. Because AP is slow in turns, the AP was not able to keep the An22 straight! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SECTION D: NOTES/COMMENTS: 1) Bank on Heading Hold AP setting change is ~ 15°. But a/c straightens out quite rapidly if doing manual turns. 2) This a/c looks "the business!", the mix of Aeroflot and TCA livery on this huge plane is nice to see, expecially for pilots who love such kind of giant. 3) Very pleasant to fly.
